Energy Valley - The Future of Energy in North-western Europe : Energy System Integration in the North Sea Region

The ongoing energy transition will push public- and private stakeholders to take new roles in the changing energy system. Energy System Integration provides a methodology to efficiently organize these processes on a regional, national and international level. In this process demand driven knowledge development, based on integrated energy system thinking, will allow knowledge institutions and private stakeholders to cooperatively respond to opportunities and bottlenecks; often with technological, social, legal and/or economical characteristics.

The North Sea Region has all the important variables in place to speed up the ongoing North-western European energy transition and become an example region for a truly effective energy transition, unparalleled in the world. Effective triple-helix cooperation, supported through pragmatic EU policy can make a significant contribution to realising and surpassing our Energy Union challenges.

During this pragmatic conference session triple-helix stakeholders will present their views on the ongoing energy transition in the North Sea region. Representatives from appealing public- and private organisations as well as knowledge institutes will elaborate on key step changes required to tackle bottlenecks in the current energy transition in North-western Europe.

High-level speakers will explain their views on short- and long-term cooperation opportunities based on Energy System Integration thinking and reflect on the effectiveness of existing and future EU energy policy. The final programme will follow soon.

The event is organised by the the European North Sea Energy Alliance (ENSEA) and is co-hosted by Energy Valley
